Startled by Harford County Council president Richard Slutzky’s remarks at the Feb 13th meeting of the council, in which he dismissed climate change as fake news, and part of a plan by the UN to redistribute wealth by alarming the public, a number of residents came to speak to the council at its February 20th meeting.
Harford County Climate Action has continued discussing climate change with council members and has been invited to present on the issue at the April 17 meeting. The public is encouraged to attend.
Next Meeting and Other Upcoming Events
HCCA Membership Meetings are on the third Wednesday of each month (except November and December) from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Next meeting: October 17, 2018, 6-8 p.m. Medstar Building, 12 Medstar Blvd, Bel Air, MD. All are welcome to attend.
October 14, Plastics Committee Meeting. 2:30 p.m. at the Churchville Unitarian Church, 2515 Churchville Rd, Churchville, MD 21028. This one hour committee meeting will be followed by Together We Will’s 3:30-5:00 meeting about Harford County’s collaboration with I.C.E. Speakers will be from the Esperanza Center of Baltimore and the Maryland ACLU. It’ll be a busy fall day, all the more so because we’re also going to the “Breaking Barriers by Breaking Bread” festival in Baltimore before the Plastics Committee Meeting. That festival runs from 12-5, and I figure we can attend from 12-1:15 and still get back for the plastics meeting.
